Gin Radoune: National Recognition for an Exceptional Gaspésie Spirit

O’Dwyer Distillery is proud to announce that its Gin Radoune has been ranked the second-best gin in Quebec according to the prestigious Protégez-Vous magazine rankings. With an impressive score of 90%, it sits just behind Gin Touya (91%), confirming the excellence of its recipe and distinctive aromatic profile.

A Blind Tasting Ensuring Complete Objectivity

This recognition is especially meaningful as the evaluation was conducted blind by an independent panel, eliminating any influence from branding, packaging, or marketing. The only criterion judged was the quality of the taste.

“It’s a great recognition for us, especially since it comes from a credible magazine and was done blind,” explains Michael Briand, co-founder.

A Recipe Rooted in Gaspésie’s Terroir

Gin Radoune is crafted from four varieties of wild mushrooms hand-picked in Gaspésie by Gaspésie Sauvage:

  • Chanterelle – delicate and aromatic.

  • Chanterelle en tube – woody and intense.

  • Armillaire (Honey mushroom) – lightly sweet.

  • Candy cap – naturally flavored with maple and caramel notes.

While minor adjustments are made based on harvest conditions, the recipe remains faithful to its original identity.

Perfect Timing Ahead of the Holiday Season

The feature in Protégez-Vous comes at an ideal moment, just before the holiday sales period. With 205 SAQ branches already stocking the Radoune and nearly 400 additional cases on order, the distillery expects a notable sales increase. To meet demand, part-time staff may be hired to assist with bottling.

Exciting New Projects on the Horizon

In parallel, the team is preparing a brand-new product for launch in the spring. This project involves a significant investment in equipment—occupying 60% of the distillery’s production space. The final go-ahead from the main investor is expected soon before production begins.
